Hopes for political change grow in Algeria | DW News
In Algeria, long-serving president Abdel-aziz Bouteflika has announced he will not seek re-election. The move comes after weeks of street protests against his candidacy. Unlike some other leaders in North Africa, Bouteflika survived a wave of revolutions between 2010 and 2012. The ailing president now seems ready to pass Algeria's political future onto a younger generation. But some voters are yet to be convinced, as we hear in this report.
